PERILOUS TIMES
Dear Christian friends,
Last month, I wrote about China’s total lockdown of Shanghai, a city of over 26 million, and the tremendous suffering it caused. Many of our politicians and public health officials have expressed admiration of China, and have encouraged the rest of the world to adopt their policies as the best way to handle this and future pandemics. Recently, Anthony Fauci said that our courts should not have the ability to review public health orders by government officials. In other words, these unelected officials should have dictatorial powers, subject to no restraint.
On Feb. 14, Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau invoked Canada’s Emergency Act to give himself unlimited, dictatorial power in response to a truckers’ protest against his COVID rules. These protests were almost completely peaceful, unlike last year’s George Floyd protests in the US that destroyed many of our cities and were endorsed by almost all our nation’s leaders. His government even froze the bank accounts of anyone who had donated to that cause. One single mother making minimum wage had her bank account frozen after she made a $50 donation. Trudeau sent a strong message that he is in absolute control of the country, and nobody dare protest his rules.
As I have mentioned before, it is clear that the COVID virus is the result of “gain of function” research creating increasingly deadly viruses in the Wuhan lab in China. This research was partially funded and aided by the US. There are many such labs throughout the world. Yet there is no massive public outcry to shut down these labs and destroy these viruses. As a result, a future, more deadly, pandemic is almost inevitable.
Perhaps the most dangerous event of all is the war in Ukraine. There is no question that Putin’s invasion of Ukraine was evil, and caused and will cause the deaths of many Ukrainian civilians, as well as soldiers. At the same time, the response of the US and Western Europe has been to prolong and escalate the war.
The US is sending many billions of dollars in weapons to Ukraine, and intends to spend unlimited amounts of money on that war. Almost all the media, almost everyone in Congress and Biden, support this escalation. Meanwhile, Russia threatens to use nuclear weapons. Will they? Will this become World War III?
There is massive inflation in prices throughout the world. In California, the average price of gas is (as of 6/14) $6.45 a gallon. That price has tripled in 2 years. Even before the war in Ukraine, a great deal of inflation was caused by the US printing trillions of dollars in new money. In 2001, the national debt was 6 trillion dollars, 55% of our Gross National Product (GNP). In 2011, it was 15 trillion dollars, 95% of our GNP. In 2021, it was 30 trillion dollars, 124% of our GNP. Clearly, our nation is in deep financial trouble. We are spending far more money than we take in. At some point, this will end – badly.
Wars, droughts, supply chain disruptions, COVID lockdowns in China, economic sanctions against Russia, potential economic collapse of nations — all these are happening simultaneously. There is a real possibility of mass starvation around the world, and possibly serious food shortages in the US. It seems that many world leaders actually want these things to happen in order to force the collapse of the world’s economies, leading to some kind of “new world order” in which governments have more power and individuals have little or no freedom. During the COVID pandemic, the leaders of almost every country and US state took unprecedented control over peoples’ lives. Essentially, they became dictators, issuing orders that in many cases are still in effect two years later — without even consulting their legislatures. Increasingly, studies are showing that none of these measures reduced COVID deaths.
In a debate on October 15, 2020 between Trump and Biden, less than a month before the election, Biden was confronted by Trump about emails found on his son’s laptop indicating that Joe Biden was receiving money from the Ukraine and China in exchange for US government favors. Biden responded that over 50 former intelligence officials had written a letter saying that this laptop story was likely “Russian disinformation.” Joe Biden, of course, knew the laptop was real. Though he still denies it, he was very much involved in his son’s financial dealings. Government records show that he frequently met with his son’s business associates. The New York Post was the only major newspaper to report on this story before the election. They as well as anyone who mentioned Hunter’s laptop were banned from many social media platforms. As a result, most Americans who voted for President in November, 2020, knew nothing about that laptop or considered it to be fake.
In March, 2022, the New York Times finally admitted that the laptop was real. One poll indicated that 17 percent of Biden voters would not have voted for the Biden-Harris presidential ticket if they had known about at least one of eight major news stories that were suppressed by big tech and mainstream media outlets. One of these stories was about the Hunter Biden laptop. In a Rasmussen poll, 66% of voters said they believe the laptop story is important and 48% said it is very important. Certainly, had the media not censored this story and had Joe Biden not lied about it during the debate, he would not be President today. But the media censored many other stories that also could have changed the outcome of the election. Of course, all this information was available on the internet before the election. Voters ought to take more time to educate themselves before they vote.
I personally am convinced there was also significant voter fraud in the 2020 election. Unfortunately, voter fraud (by those do not fear God and only care about power) is easy to commit but difficult to prove in a court of law. “Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom” (2 Cor. 3:18). Sadly, most Americans have turned from God and we are losing our freedom.
On November 10th, 2016, Danish MP Ida Auken published an essay “Welcome To 2030: I Own Nothing, Have No Privacy And Life Has Never Been Better,” for the World Economic Forum (WEF). In the essay, Auken makes a prediction, writing that in 2030 (8 years from now) one doesn’t own a house, a car, appliances or clothes, instead renting everything. The essay also predicts mass surveillance and a society split in two. As of 2022, the essay is no longer available on WEF’s website.
I close with another scripture. Notice how it warns us of the perilous times to come, but also provides hope to those who are saved by Jesus Christ:
2Thess 2: “For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way. And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming. The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
“But we are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God from the beginning chose you for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth, to which He called you by our gospel, for the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, brethren, stand fast and hold the traditions which you were taught, whether by word or our epistle.”
