Christmas Outreach Report

Dear Christian friends,

In December, we held three Christmas outreaches on Friday night at Union Square in San Francisco. This area is filled with people doing their Christmas shopping, attending Christmas plays, and looking at the gigantic Christmas tree in the park.

We also held three Christmas outreaches on Saturday afternoon. On December 4, Last Days Harvest Church from Sacramento played at United Nations Plaza. We prayed with about a dozen people that afternoon. Most of them were homeless.

On December 11, Tim Charles brought a worship team from Modesto to play Christmas music in Berkeley. Telegraph Avenue was closed for a “Holiday Celebration” with thousands of shoppers and dozens of street vendors lining the street. All of them saw our banners as they passed by and heard the music and preaching. Hundreds received gospel tracts. On December 18, the country blues-rock band “Bluedog” played at Fisherman’s Wharf. Also, a group of carolers dressed in Victorian outfits called the “What the Dickens Carolers” sang at the Wharf.

This year, even the greeting “Merry Christmas” has become controversial. Businesses want people to spend money at their stores, but they are afraid that any mention of Jesus might offend someone. It is sad to see so many people frantically doing their Christmas shopping without thinking about the One whose birthday they are celebrating. Fortunately, we still have freedom in this nation to preach boldly about Jesus to tens of thousands of Christmas shoppers. We need to take advantage of this freedom before our nation’s judges take it away.

Jesus said it was hard for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God. It is certainly hard for many Americans, caught up in their comfortable, materialistic lifestyle, to see their need for a Savior. Still, God continues to reach out to the people of this nation with His love and mercy. I hope many of you took time during this busy season to share the gospel with some unsaved people.

SOS San Francisco July 15-23, 2005

We have set the dates for our 26th annual week-long outreach to the people of San Francisco. Please consider taking time off work so you can attend this important outreach. Please pray that God will help us in planning the outreach, and that He will call many laborers to bring in a great harvest of souls this summer.

Ministry News and Needs

Thank you again for your prayers and financial support for this ministry. I wish I had time to write each of you a personal letter. We really do appreciate your faithfulness in helping us reach the people of San Francisco with the gospel. God has met every one of our needs for over 25 years!

We are still remodeling the downstairs portion of our house. Also, we still have several rooms in our ministry house for mature Christians who want to be involved in evangelism.

Our Tape of the Month is Planting an Inner City Ministry by Sonny Arguinzoni. Sonny is Founder and President of Victory Outreach, a network of over 500 churches in 24 nations. Their purpose is to evangelize drug addicts and gang members.

Yours in His love,

Larry Rosenbaum
