Mardi Gras Outreach Report
from the Christ in Action Newsletter, Box 4200, Manassas, VA 22110, (703) 368-6286 (to be printed in the Pentecostal Evangel, Assembly of God, magazine).
Christ in Action Ministries brought over 150 soulwinners from 24 states and Canada to Westbank Cathedral Assembly of God, pastored by Paul Radke, for a week of Holy Ghost warfare in this pool of iniquity…
During the outreach in 1989, Ron Surgener (CIA’s associate director) led a young, homeless, drunken street drug addict named Frank to Christ. Ron bought Frank a hot dog from a street vendor and shared Christ with him. It wasn’t long before Frank repented of his sins and asked Jesus to be the Lord of his life. Ron spent the next several days ministering to Frank and at the end of the outreach took him home to live with him. Frank is now a licensed minister and was on our outreach this year. Frank ran into “Tony,” his old drug buddy, from when he was on the streets. Tony pulled up Frank’s shirt sleeve to look for “needle tracks” and Frank said, “I’ve been clean since Jesus set me free 5 years ago” and gave Tony a great big hug as he began sharing everything God had done for him and telling Tony how he could be saved. Tony prayed right there and gave his life to Christ. Frank has taken Tony home with him and is helping Tony get into a Teen Challenge ministry. Only God could bring two people who have been separated for five years back together in the midst of a million other people…
Many of these soulwinners have never even shared their faith before attending this outreach and have returned to their local churches equipped to win their town for Christ. We have seen literally thousands of people from all walks of life and from scores of countries around the world come to meet the King of Glory in the slimiest gutters of this modern day Sodom and Gomorrah. After meeting these people on some of the dirtiest streets in America, it will be a thrill to walk the streets of gold with them for eternity.
India Outreach
by Henry Pulsifer (Brothers and Sisters in Christ (B.A.S.I.C.), Box 431, Kiln, MS 39556, (601) 255-9251)
Since returning on Christmas Eve we have had time to reflect on one of our most successful trips to India. While we were there, we overcame severe resistance from the enemy, and walked with the Cross in central India. God miraculously supplied a house and van for the team through Gospel for Asia Ministries. In addition, we ministered and helped equip the saints for evangelism, personal discipleship, and church planting in Bombay, Nasik, Nagpur and South India. The Gospel was shared with thousands of people as we passed out over 20,000 tracts, and preached on the roadsides and in the villages. Hundreds of truckers stopped for literature, allowing the gospel to be scattered all over India.
Around 200 believers were trained in B.A.S.I.C. Evangelism and Discipleship. At least as many unbelievers prayed to receive Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Letters are continuing to come in as others make the same decision. Churches were begun in about five different villages. The strategy God has given us for evangelism, discipleship, and church planting has endured the test of time. We found the workers and churches we planted in 1990 still going for Jesus. Most of them have had very little outside encouragement or support. After only a week of training, the team that walked with us in India was able to plant a village church on their own while they waited to join us in Nagpur. We have a home video of India that we will send upon request. We are sponsoring an outreach in Washington D. C., June 30-July 5, to help people find personal vision, and equip them to fulfill God’s purpose for their life.

Our Tape of the Month is “How to Reach your City for Christ” by Larry Rosenbaum. This is a teaching on how to organize a city- wide outreach in your own community. Also, many of you have never read my book — You Shall Be My Witnesses: How to Reach Your City for Christ. This book tells the story of SOS Ministries, and contains teachings on how to do various kinds of outreach in your own community. Some of the topics discussed in the book include– starting a street witnessing team, witnessing to homosexuals, witnessing at shopping centers, rock concerts and schools, and witnessing to children, the elderly, Catholics, Jews and cultists. If you already have a copy of this book, perhaps you will want an extra copy to give to a friend, or to your pastor.
Yours in His love,
Larry Rosenbaum
